Your brand and your story – explained in a clear and compelling way.
Explain an idea
Whether it’s a policy, technology, or service, a video can quickly explain the benefit of something new to audiences in a way that’s clear and compelling.
“About us” explainers
Many organisations find it challenging to explain who they are in a way that is simple to understand and interesting. We are experienced at guiding clients through the confusion to find the message that best explains what they do and why.
Explainers as content strategy
In a world where everyone is competing so hard for attention, making videos that people want to watch (rather than another ad they’re trying to avoid) can be a very effective way to reach your target audience.
By sourcing interesting stories from within your organisation — for example by interviewing your experts — this type of explainer is not only interesting to your audience, but builds your brand as well.
Our work
Why us?
My name is Brendan Miller and I lead a team that loves video explainers, producing them for publishers like the BBC, The New York Times and Oxford University.
I started my career in current affairs television as the series producer of Question Time, the BBC’s flagship political debate programme. I then moved into digital, creating the award-winning series, Things Not to Say, one of BBC Three’s most successful online video formats.
My experience in both traditional broadcast and the new world of viral media has helped me understand how to put together teams of creatives that can make content that is both high-quality and that will attract a large audience.
What makes us different?
If you search for “explainer videos” online, most results will be animation studios. Generally, the arrangement is that they animate scripts written by those in junior roles on the client side. We take a different approach.
- The script is fundamental. If you’ve ever found yourself bored watching a Hollywood film full of fancy special effects, you’ll understand that good video content lives and dies on the quality of its story and script. Explainer videos are no different and the clients we work with want to involve us in this process from the start.
- What’s interesting, not just fancy cameras! For us, the most important part of a video is the quality of ideas and stories. Although we take pride in the quality of our production, we know audiences (unlike many production companies) are rarely excited about $50,000 cameras, and more about whether what’s being said is interesting.
- We like to find the stories in your organisation. We believe that most organisations are full of interesting stories and expertise, that can powerfully support the story you’re trying to tell. We’re experienced at finding the stories that use your experts, staff and stakeholders.
More than animation!
We love animation but our explainers also often involve presenters, interviews, real-life objects, motion graphics, stop-motion, and even puppets!
This visual variety makes the final video more interesting and helps your budget go further.
